Camaro.  I watched the clip.  Funny!  These guys were clearly not thrilled about washing a car in skimpy underwear calling the car a "dirty, dirty car"  LOL

The softer side of me knows that some companies "do it" simply realizing that diversity extends beyond color and religion. Some actually realize we have been on this American soil far longer than the hijab has. Progressive Ins, I think, is one. Also, GayOrbitz.com is another. While the "gay" orbitz may pf course turn some off. I don't care anymore. I don't want to blend in. I just want to live as I do every day. If I can drum up biz for Prog and GayOrb AND get a discount for using te services, good for all of us.

See gayorbitz.com coupla promo codes for discounts lgbtsavenow and Pride2009

Report: GM failed to fully vet sexy gay ads featuring men in skimpy swimsuits

Monday, July 13th 2009, 10:54 AM

alg_car-ad.jpg

It seems to be one gaffe after another for General Motors these days.

Online ads promoting the Chevy Camaro and Chevrolet Gay Day at the Movies, which featured men in skimpy bathing suits washing a car, hit the Internet because of an apparent oversight at GM, USA Today reports.

GM's gay community outreach official told USA Today that the videos would not have gone online had certain GM officials seen them first.

Travis Parman, who handles the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transsexual community relations for GM, told The Advocate:

Our LGBT outreach group did just some grass-roots, viral, simple videos to promote the event itself. Our LGBT group who normally handles this thing is the group who did it, so we didnt want to shy away from that responsibility. But it had not been vetted through every single group, he told the site.

If the video had been vetted through every department at GM, it probably never would have been posted.

Click here to watch a clip of the video.

The (heavily republican) legislature in my state (now absent our Democratic governor who cannot override this madness with her veto) has just decided that it's now okay for people to take concealed weapons into bars ... as long as they're not drinking. blankstare

Their reasoning is that it's a "hardship" on gun owners to leave their guns outside of bars and restaurants.

Ever tried to remove an unruly drunk from a bar?

I'm soooooooooooo glad those days are behind me, now, and you can bet I won't be diving back into "the bar scene" anytime soon.

Their reasoning would have actually made for good public safety argument if they had simply said it makes more sense on a non drinker in an establishment than in the car that would possibly be stolen by a kid or a felon who now has a car AND a firearm.

I would think if we were employing "good sense" they might have considered a non-drinker not going to a bar in the first place, if leaving their gun locked in their truck is such a "hardship" for them. (And yeah, they actually used the word "hardship.")

guns + booze = bad result.

I worked in gay clubs for years. It literally sends a shiver down my spine to recall any given moment during that time, in my mind's eye, and then add concealed guns into the picture. Once, when I was working in an elevated station right by the front door of a club, we got word that there was a madman cabbing around town going into gay bars, firing off a few rounds, and then leaving. A couple of people were dead already. He'd begun south east of us and was working his way in the direction of our club. The employees knew, the patrons weren't told. The police finally caught up with him about a block east and ... eh? five blocks? south of us. We were the next club on the route.

Imagine a crouded club, and someone walks in and fires a gun. Now imagine all the returned fire from all those well intended "non-drinking" gun totin' patrons. See all the corpses and bleeding people on the floor?

Sex sells. The media standard of advertising and, what the consensus says is broad appeal does not include the above. (and we all know it does not consider male same sex as being one either). I initially had an eye roll moment which is good since I have moved beyond sterotypical disgust and, I hope the "other side" is moving this way as welll. I wonder where the add is targeted? This could be a very good sign that the general market for sex adds is becoming more inclusive. Not that I care for gay equal rights march to include demand for inclusion in the sex add market sector. lol Gator

I don't know. that argument makes me think of a P.R. campaign for Catholic priests that shows them reading scripture to little girls on their lap. I don't think the "other side" targeting the pornographic side of any culture, group, gender etc is ever a good thing. It's a testament to ones nonchalance over filth. Really, despite what's been said about Hollywood, not all publicity is good publicity. And not every endorsement is a good one. Well, I read further and there is no intention for this to make its way to the American market. Apparently it is for a Japanese market only. Also, I wonder just how much fat is in that disgusting thing.

Don't get me wrong. I'm totally turned off by it. I don't like, especially a fast food joint, to pull this and, then on the other hand sell kids meals with "the king". Which I find him to be totally creepy.  There is appropriate place though for the advertising. Do you consider it filth when you go to a pride celebration and lube advertising is there? THat bothers me , when it is suppose to be a family event. I missed where it is known that the "otherside" is targeting. Regardless, to call it filth is what struck me. In the right magazine and, void a Corporation that does not target kids with happy meals many Lesbains would not find it filth but, rather erotic. I've heard the term used in community several times before. Just saying it's not exclusive to the male  community. It is a bad thing when sex gets perverted and, the advertising is alright when it crosses into the youth sector but, taboo when it is gays. Gator

. I wonder where the add is targeted?

im thinking its aimed at men, certainly not women. the look on her face is supposed to be shock and awe right? i dunno she looks rather horrified to me:) if it were aimed at women it would prolly be downplaying the size or the calorie count. where. i was curious what  geographical area.

ive seen several ads on tv lately that are aimed at the lgbt market. in one the guy is wearing the equality symbol on his sleeve tho its subtle.

oh i see them all the time and for years now. but, you do not see gay sex adds like this.

another, a progressive ad, features two men who are shopping for insurance and seems very gay to me tho the company spokesperson says its just two male friends but its ok with them if its viewed otherwise.

oh please god dont tell me they are not showing the FLO adds anymore.

have you seen the latest calvin klein billboards? one was recently taken down in NYC after complaints about the graphic nature of the photo. the photo was of 3 men, one woman participating in an orgy of sorts and the woman in question looks about 12 while the men look to be in their 20s. i wouldnt mind looking at a billboard of a foursome if the 4 in question were women over 21. still its a bit racy for the street, they also have another ad where a man has dropped his pants and a woman is licking his a ss. its a nice photo in terms of sensual image but for a billboard where kids will view it?  im thinking thats prolly not the best idea.

That's disgusting. Sadly? I wouldn't be surprised if this was a females brainstorm. Unless this is just a "harmless" joke, or made for the eurasian trash market. Too bad for Christina Applegate there's such a striking resemblance.
