If it weren't for a holiday weekend sale some months ago, combined with a hefty rebate I probably wouldn't have bought the wireless MS big deal one in the closet. I think I paid $25 or so after all was done. Even less expensive than Best Buy and Wal Mart, I think is Big Lots and I hear they work just fine. Plus where else can you find a keyboard, toilet paper and mandarin oranges all in the same aisle?
lol and dont forget the home furnishings next to last years christmas ornaments. christmas in june. love it. big lots is too far for me to travel to but i love the job lot stores which are all over the tri state area. i wouldnt eat the food selections in any of them unless they came with a guarantee that they werent somehow produced in china (or the pet food selections) but with that in place they have some interesting offerings. last time i was in one i saw a shelf of lava lamps. really. i almost bought one. i used to love my wireless keyboard but now i have to strain to see the screen when the light is low so that went bye bye.
Funny you should mention ... I have my Adobe photoshop program on an ancient almost "toy" PC, and in order to use the program, I have to not only remove the old PC's cover, and push the "on" button with a toothpick to get it to fire up, but I also (due to a Buck incident) have to now unhook the keyboard from THIS PC and hook it up to that one in order to use some of the Photoshop functions, so I was sort of window shopping for a keyboard just yesterday. Don't really have the $ for it right now, but I anticipate I will in the very near future, so I'm interested in any and all recommendations...
ive tried a lot of keyboards over the years, the fancy ones with all the bells and whistles, the split apart ergo ones and yanno what? the ones that work best for me are the 10 dollar light plastic ones that you can get at any best buy or walmart. i have a lot of wrist and thumb problems and the springiness of these lightweight ones seem to do the least amount of damage, prolly because you dont have to pound on them as you do the heavier ones.

I ran the b*tch over. That's the kinda week I had. Sorry French lady.
Don't start with me: I'm still mad at you over this global warming mess.

Twas me. On everyones "list" today. Anyway, found that "quote" function. Funny they're making this a test of sorts. Which reminds me, I apologize for some of my spelling and other keyboard anamlies. But, they aren't really, I just don't have any letters left from typing so much. I have a new keyboard, my typing should appear better tomorrow. It ain't easy this way.
oh yeah i hear you. all of the identifying letters on my keyboard are gone and sometimes this leads to amusing results:) ive thought about putting those little circle things on and labeling them but im better not thinking about it and simply typing. when i try and think about which key is which i fail miserably!

So here comes the whole "destiny, fate or coincidence" question,.
I believe we were blessed by our higher power with the gift of free will, which means we are predestined and foreordained ... to decide for ourselves :)
But then something like this happens and I think .. was she unable to escape her fate? Was her destiny (death) written at her conception .. or was it just the crappiest of luck? <--nesea
I think one needs to ask themselves how many other people on earth were killed in car accidents that same day ... not to mention all kinds of OTHER accidents. It's an irony, to be sure, but missing the flight wasn't a "free pass" to immortality. :) That's my thought, I guess. <--owl
im thinking that most of us think these events are coincidence but there does seem to be a higher rate of death in the near future for those who walk away from the spectacular or maybe the press coverage is such that we notice it more. ive heard similar stories about survivors of 911 or other aircraft incidences where this has happened and its enough to make me think its worth investigating.
my gut feeling is that the answer to this is wrapped up with our human experience of "time" and the linear understanding that we have of it.
i read a book last year and im struggling to come up with the name of it or who wrote(im thinking someone who normally writes in the horror genre) it but a brief synopsis of it is that a baby is born and at the time of birth a prediction is made about the childs fate and the day on which this will occur. the father believes this and goes to great lengths to protect the child on that day each year. as i recall it has a happy ending and yet the prophecy was correct and the irony of course is that in trying to outrun your fate sometimes you run right into it.
Maybe because those people aren't being as cautious -- that they're so preoccupied by looking back what just ALMOST happened to them, they completely miss the train bearing down on them from the front.
I think too, sometimes, after a shocking thing occurs, we're sort of "numb" in some ways, and can't rely quite as heavily upon "autopilot" as we might other times. I know that' true for me, anyway. I would bet money, all things being even, the car she was in was at fault. A car is a serious weapon which one really needs ALL their senses firing at full force to operate -- even from a defensive perspective. I realize "fate" is more romantic, but I think more often than not, there are reasonable, and explainable causes for things like this, that get left in the dust unnoticed.

(June 11) - In an unfortunate twist a fate, a woman who missed the Air France flight that crashed into the Atlantic last week has been killed in a car accident.
Johanna Ganthaler was vacationing in Brazil with her husband, Kurt, last month and was scheduled to fly into Paris May 31 on Air France Flight 447.
The Italian couple missed boarding the flight after arriving late to the Rio de Janeiro airport, according to the Times Online. Despite their initial good fortune, the two were involved in a car accident in Austria. Johanna Ganthaler was killed and her husband was seriously injured in the crash.
