This is be kind to animals week. Speak out against Factory Farms and, long distance hauling in cramped environments of Livestock. Demand that the link between cruelty and, what we sow.........Poultry(Avian Flu), Pig (Swine Flu) and Bovine diseases be broken.
Eating Veal in the US means that you support a calf living an anemic life in a crate.
We are what we eat and, that includes in a spiritual sense as well.
Eat Cage free and free range. The benefits from the above means removing harmful chemicals and antibiotics from your diet. And, a higer level of consciouness.
Premarin is made from pregnant mare urine and the foals are slaughtered in the process.
Buy cruelty free make-up, cleaners.....home products and, reap the added health benefits by being kind to animals.
Neuter your pets. Recycle and donate old blankets and sheets......ect to shelters or rescue organizations. If your work place does not have a paper recycling program in place encourage them to shred paper and, donate it to rescue groups to be used for bedding.
Never buy from a puppy mill and, never give a pet through advertising " free to good home". It may end up being sold to research or to train pit bull dogs. Even ritual abuse and torture.
Help an animal when you see it suffering. Celebrate your pet. Gator

there have been a few adoption events this week. there was one at a local grocery and the line to look at the pets for adoption was so very long. i thought that interesting since there was also section of one of the npr shows having to do with pets who have been abandoned as a result of the economy.  apparently they have been finding a lot of abandoned animals this year. one of the things suggested was that if its a choice between paying for your own food and the animals food rather than abandoning the pet go to the shelters and ask for pet food.

When I ran into my ex she told me that she went to an adoption / fund raise for the local rescue and, came home with 2 puppies. She will see it through and, all of her dogs live long lives. Some I am afraid, are doing it on impulse and, then realize.................big mistake. 5 dogs have been dumped on my road. 2 of which I took responsibility for and, my neighbors the others. . My dog is very peevish and, will not stand for another animal in the house. Not that he recognizes himself as one. So, I placed one in a home and, the other was in horrible shape and, I took it to the pound (which is a no kill). Gator
