She's got something like 7 gigs with Ferrick in Cali for April then they part ways and Ferrick goes to the MI Womens Festival and Dar hits a stop or two in CT and MA and returns home, to NY. On the Hudson.

oh! i didnt realize shed be by that soon. ill have to look and see where shes playing. theres quite a few good concerts coming up. im wanting to get tickets for the joint catie curtis cheryl wheeler concert. they will be in randolph vermont but also in the boston area. tickets for the boston concert are twice what the vermont concert is asking tho randolph is way the hell up there almost in canada. not sure id want to drive back late at night for that and if i stayed over the cost difference would be eaten up by motel costs. what to do? sigh. im trying to be careful about spending right now in case i get laid off. right now it looks like im gonna be safe but at the meeting monday that safety was given in a very tenuous way.

There really should be a national movement to pump some life into the song Iowa and force it a National Anthem of sorts. Not sure she ever saw that one comin' but too bad. ;)

ive seen quite a few articles about iowa in the last few days. apparently its not the barren burg weve been led to believe.

Joss Wheedon went there too huh? Damn. I love BUFFY!

yep she did. wes is very proud of their high achieving grads. they are shameless namedroppers:)

Dollhouse stunk, I think they killed it immediately, they should have. The name alone gives high expectations of great tv "art". lol.

that seemed to be some reworking of the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. im sure that it was full of symbolic goodness but i wont miss it either. there arent many shows on fox that hold my interest. they all seem interchangeable to me. maybe the people who select shows have this as their legacy? that seems to be true for most of the "channels" tho. the nbc ones are sort of similar in feel as are the cbs ones and the bravo ones etc. mebbe its just my eyes or mebbe theres something to it.

bd forgot to sign in.

BTW, don't forget her birthday ;). April 17th. heart.gif  .........42.

There's a playhouse gig down on the ny border of CT and two? eastern MA shows. Look it up, go see her while she's out there. It's been remarkable to watch her "age", she's done it so gracefully. So many of the songs stay the same but songs like "what do you hear in these sounds" and "allelujia" have a decidedly different feel and invoke such different recollections than they did when she wrote and released them twenty odd years ago.

So we part ways on spoken rap versus Monet. You had fun.

of course! its always about da fun and da dance. im channeling emma goldman here:)

Sounds like a great day and it's good to hear spring is finally in the ne. It was winter here yesterday and the day before, three days ago it was near 90. Tomorrow?

i know. weird weather isnt it? it was gorgeous today but its supposed to be back in the teens over the weekend. not a good day for an easter egg hunt for sure. im thinking a plan b is in order. i do wish it were nicer. it sucks to have some easter holida time off only to have a sleety cold rain happening.

I certainly hope this wasn't the product of some arts grant. I didn't like it. I never have liked rap.  It gave me a big fat headache. thumbsdown.gif

spoken word more than rap. art is in the eye of the beholder, yes? the impressionists dont move me but i can recognize the artistic value. still, one must have fun with arts, i was performing this for a coworker today. we got silly but it was fun.  spring is here fun is necessary. i met one of the daughters for lunch today. we had lunch and walked over by the river to walk off the calories. we watched the wesleyan crew girlies doing their workout before hitting the water. babewatch is alive and well. woo hoo!

Day to Day, April 6, 2005 · April is National Poetry Month, and we observe the event with Alex Caldiero reading his 2001 poem, "Poetry is Wanted Here."

Poetry Is Wanted Here
You don'
soun' so good.
Pleez
take care.

Most o' this is mental.
That's why it's terrorism: it's meant to
disconcert,
make you revert
to blind fear --
Poetry is wanted here!

And to boot,
our home-grown nuts
are starting to take root.
Yet in most parts
things are calm and generally subdued.
But thereve been hoaxes
and folks is
getting anxious
and ready to conclude
that its hopeless and drear --
Poetry would be helpful here!

So im gonna poetize
to realize
that you cannot hide
when worlds collide,
no going inside
no taking a breather
either;
It all comes in on you at once
& you gotta have at least an ounce
of hope and joy
to deploy
into the atmosphere
of fear
to implode
the load
of grief thats drawing near--
Poetry is desired here!

'Cause all peoples are
just like you are
and I are
close or far
are
just people with nowhere to run:
Lets stick a flower into every gun
like way back when,
or was that a dream?
Cant say now
feeling so low
seeing so bleak
thinking so drear --
Songs are needed here!
Rhyming
& timing,
a rebirth of cheer --
Poetry would be good here!

BAM!
We are human
after all.
America
venerable
yet
vulnerable
and
human
after all:
Thats our true strength
& the real meaning
of this happenstance:
That we can fall
and scroll
and rise
and be surprised
and not take for granted
the morning sun so beautiful and dear --
Poetry is wanted here!

Forgive me for ranting
for panting
for chanting
out of tune:
Thats the fool in me
seeking a tune in me
wanting
to stay light and free
from what would oppress
depress
regress
obsess
and in general make a mess
o' my soul;
I wanna be whole
in control
on a roll
without the slightest hint of fear --
Poetry is needed here!

So my dear friend,
hang in
hang on
hang tight:
We gotta see this to the end;
We gotta be concern'd
and discern
the real enemy that we fight,
for the veil between truth and lie
is become so thin and sheer --
Poetry is wanted here!
