a story on home staging in los angeles which apparently is becoming a standard in the real estate biz. realtors alarmed by the vacant homes in certain neighborhoods have begun to stage entire neighborhoods, hiring dog walkers to walk dogs down the street, actors to stay in the vacant homes, hold bar b ques and invite the prospective new neighbors to watch a little league game. people apparently are buying the homes based on what they think the neighborhood is like...not...after the sale the "neighbors" move on to the next home and the new homeowners are left to watch the tumbleweeds drift down the street. i think people buy the neighborhood as much as the home and imo these realtors are committing fraud on those buyers. incredible.

I think that falls somehow into the category of "blockbusting", at least in the notion of designing a neighborhood. That is a federal crime. These are the enterprising types of "white collar" criminals or frauds, folks that our financial climate has created. Now your supposed to ask the "neighbors" if they're basically "bots"? Of course it's fraud. But, it stimulates the real estate industry, lending industry and houses new homeowners. Too, what about the "little leaguers" and other participants in this sham? What the hell are we creating?
