is it the white face makeup? tilda swinton does this too and it always reminds me of that android from star trek? what was his name? had something to do with computers i think?

Now that I think about it, if Sean Penn thinks Hugo Chavez is "all that" he should move his family to Venezuela.

are the joe 4 oil commercials shown in your area? i really have a hard time with this. i appreaciate the gesture made by hugo tho i am certain his intention is to humiliate america.

I think the burning question on everyones mind is, what exactly were YOU wearing for the Oscars?

well i dunno about the rest of you but i started off with dirty sweat workout clothes and ended the evening with clean sweat workout clothes. lol. i did like frieda pintos dress loved the color which looked beautiful on her and the style was sort of sari and yet not. interesting.. one thing i did notice was the number of "trains" on the gowns. what a pain in the tush that musta been? i saw one pix of meryl streep in her dress with the flowing train and in the background is a man walking, looking the other way and his foot looks as tho its about to land on her train. made me cringe im tellin ya.

Go figure, hunh?

well whats up with that? lol.

Just FTR: I adore Meryl (nominated-for-an-academy-award-fifteen-times-and-counting) Streep. My artistic heart skips a beat, every time I even see a photo of her. If if were up to me, they'd cancel all these award shows, and just pull a van up to her home, and dump every acting award created on her doorstep. She is, IMO, our greatest living actor.

she is wonderful. my only gripe with her acting is her contemporary cali accent.  i have the same problem with kevin costner and a few others. its a very discernable accent and when either the period or the region suggest other it sort of sticks out for me and distracts me from their performance.

Anybody watch?  What did you think?  The only movie i havent yet seen is the wrestler and i am hoping to catch that before it leaves the theaters.  I was happy to see that slumdog won mostly because the actors involved are so enthusiastic and open to the world and in awe of their good fortune. i hope that they stay that way.  and the movie was an ok too. very different. im thinking of learning the slumdog dance. it looks like a great workout!  lol. I liked Sean Penns comments and the other comments about rethinking prop 8 that were put out there but remain neutral on the movie milk itself since, imo, it erases lesbians from history. I was happy to see that kate winslet won .  i liked the reader a lot and thought her performance amazing.

I accidentally turned it on at 11 and was happy to see that last half hour or so. I loved the idea to bring five past female/male winners up to announce the nominees and the winners. There was a genuine spirit of respect and sincere admiration in most of the announcing. Some just landed flat, like they never even heard of their peers. All in all the gushing was well deserved. The flashbacks were fun too. Shirley Maclaine "thank you, I deserve this" and Swank with "I'm just a girl from a trailer park that had a dream". Even Penns humble moment when he acknowledged not being the easiest guy to want to extend an award to. That showed a maturity not often seen from him. I enjoyed what I saw. I'm not on board with the Anne Hathaway thing though, she creeps me out.  Now that I think about it, if Sean Penn thinks Hugo Chavez is "all that" he should move his family to Venezuela.

I didn't watch -- either at home, or at any of the "Oscar Parties" to which I was invited. Just ... didn't interest me, at all.
