the cable company has been eliminating channels for those of us who have the expanded basic product. thus far they have sliced 10 channels from the lineup. ive now lost the only music video channel left as well as (gasp!) cspan 1 and 2. and theyve disappeared the weather channel tho the tech people say i still have it...somewhere. grrrr. im thinking if i hold out on upgrading till the end of the transition that they will have to sweeten the pot and maybe do the switch over for no additional cost. at any rate i aint willing to pay 35 dollars more a month for television where half the time theres nothing on but reruns and commercials.
Good for you! The days of treating the consumers as hostage are numbered. Telecom, media, print, radio and television are already morally and largely creatively bankrupt, financial ruin is just around the bend. The New York Times, Boston Globe Clear Channel radio and others. The day is nearing where we wont be hearing the words "I don't make the news I just report it", there will be no reporting. How long can the likes of the BIG networks continue, with the current downturn in advertising? Of course they blame the economy and that's exactly where the blame lies. There's simply no need for advertising when the product is all gone. And all those beer ads? That's the LAST thing that will require advertising, these are the times that addictions and vice thrive. No need to advertise those. Buy buy, beer, crack and porn.
A new catch phrase may be "I don't report the news, I just make it". And that might just be a good thing.
