I am not familiar with using a heat lamp but, will read up on it. But, UV certainly will. Yes showers but, a good BR fan running 20 minutes after takes care of dampness. And, then there is my outdoor shower :) the h2o heater intimidated me but, once I got into it...............2 wires and follow the lines. It is electric and, I would have never if it was gas. It is necessity. I lam at the point where I absolutely hate strapping myself over home maintenance so, I get-er-done Gator
an outdoor shower is a good thing. ill bet it wakes you up! it sort of reminds me of summer cottages, walking back from the beach and stepping into the backyard shower before being allowed to enter the house. a very chilling but memorable experience!
I had my ac serviced, which is a waste unless, you need a re charge because, hosing the heat pump grate with a water hose is about all it is worth.He was about to leave and, I made him open the panel to the air handler in the garage all the while he insisted it was fine being it is only 2 years old.I saw what is the beginnings of mold and, he proceeded to go into a sales pitch to the tune of $500.00. Since I have new found confidence post replacing my hot water heater myself, at less than half the cost, I said no thanks. I got a uv light and, installed it above the coils and, air exchange in the garage. For $150.00. I'm sure no mold has migrated into the ducts yet (which it can and, will if left ignored) but, even if, mold has to replenish from the original source from time to time and, the uv light at the return will most likely take care of that possibility. Caution is needed because, the light can destroy your eyes.I'm not a germ phob but, mold is nothing to mess around with. Overall though the air quality in house will be much improved with other nasty things eraticated as well. One of the few reason I have never been able to live in attached living units. lol Gator
this has been a terrible year for mold i guess because of the humidity and the number of showers taken. i suspect that florida has constant humidity so you were wise to check it out. i may need to install a different vent or a heat lamp maybe. im not sure if either will prevent this from happening again tho. btw replacing the water heater yourself is quite an accomplishment. i like taking on things ive never tried before vis a vis home projects but thats one i dont think id be brave enuf to tackle.
