I like an odd weekend of intense edgy flicks. To me true horror is in the suspense, not bloody violence and abuse. So, I came across some used flicks and had never seen the Ring. Bought one and two then found Scream one two and three all for 2.50. Each.  I'd seen all the Screams, but one long rainy weekend it'll make for a nice marathon. Also got National Treasure, Clerks II and for ps2 Need for Speed Pro Street and Most Wanted. Wholly guac it had better rain for days.

i saw the ring when it came out. it reminded me of bloody mary. twas an ok movie. there were some creepy ones on hbo this weekend and i didnt indulge. leprechaun was one of them and i just know that would creep me out. on the other hand i was napping this evening with the tv on and lo and behold my favorite old movie was on. adventures in babysitting. i know, i know a dork movie but really its one of those movies for kids with great subtext for the adults.  basically eye candy elizabeth shue gets stood up by her date so she agrees to babysit for the neighbors kids, one is, of course, totally smitten with her and then she gets a call to pick up her runaway friend brenda at the trailways bus stop which involves a road trip with the kids and they get into all sort of trouble but my favorite part is when the mafia guys are chasing them and they run into a chicago dive to get away and albert collins is in da house and as he says nobody gets outta here without singing the blues. another really interesting thing about this movie is the acctor who plays the bad guy with a good heart calvin something or other. he is the spitting image of whoopie goldberg. i wonder if they are related somehow? and brendas scenes at the trailways station are priceless too. they are everything your mother ever warned you about going wrong in life except for the clean underwear. on a temporal/contextual note theres a bit of racisim and some overt homophobia in a couple of places. its interesting to see how far weve come in a couple of decades

LOL.  I'm always surprised when I see him pop up in different movies and shows.  Although, I have to admit, if I saw this particular movie I would never guess it was him.  It was your hint that gave it away.

I'll admit to being mildly curious, too.  But, still can't bring myself to go see it in the theater. I think the last horror flick I saw in the theater was The Ring.  Even that was pretty mild.

there are two categories of horror that i wont go near. one is the supernaturally based and the other is raw human evil. i suppose both scare me for the same reason. that they are possible.

I think I remember seeing commericals for the Ring that scared the beejeebers outta me. National Treasure (one and two) were fun to watch though.

Okay, so today my old links work.  Last time I tried, the links were broken.  WWET is still there with one active thread.

Well, I looked and, reporting on the B/F board. The usual single sicko making light of rape and, then changing to appear as if muslum and, attacking gays. shacking my head . Evil at it's best and, her best guarded secrets still intact by those who have been closest to it. shacking my head. Gator

I stopped by the B/F board this morning.  Looks like Billie found herself a new target.

hae you seen the trailer for this? i dont think id see this on a dare but i was talking to my kids about this today and they tell me its gonna be great. apparently the director is sam raimi (sp?) who apparently has done darkman and the spidey flicks. i used to like horror flicks, really. but after reading a lot of these in book form and seeing a lot of horror films i began to feel desensitized to violence so stopped doing either. still the youngs ones have me curious to see what this is about

I don't "do" horror flicks.
Don't see any reason to pay money (or spend time) on something I KNOW is either going to frighten me, make me angry, or sadden me.

If I wanted that, I'd go back the the AOL boards....

I can't get away from this trailer.  The hype about this movie is fairly intense.  I'm with you.  I won't see it either.  My horror flick days are far behind me.  I have trouble reading horror stories.  Even movies I used to love as a kid, I can't watch anymore.

I'll admit to being mildly curious, too.  But, still can't bring myself to go see it in the theater. I think the last horror flick I saw in the theater was The Ring.  Even that was pretty mild.
