Get well and,  while I am at it, please be vigillantly aware of your surroundings and, have every safety precaution in place on your sail in October. Maybe I will peek back after then since it is really the only outstanding worry I have in this world at this time. lol Gator

get one anyway. i rarely get sick either but had what i thought was a cold this week but its gotten increasingly worse as the week progressed. in fact i was joking with people earlier in the week about not having the flu but as it turns out i might have it after all. woke up this am with all of the gi symptoms and the fevered sweats and feeling like i somehow missed the truck that must have run over my bod. its rampant up here so its fairly likely that this is what i have tho im not going to go to the hospital to find out unless i get worse. ive sequestered myself away from others and slept for the last 18 hours and hopefully in a day or so it will be all over.

hmmm, dont expect that really....my guys rarely whine or get bored...they generally always find something to do.....in fact i dont even see them much on the ship and when we are out and about on one of the stops we always end up doing something fun, even when we dont do the excursions or whatever....one of the best times we had was just wandering round the city, hitting a dive restaurant, playing on the swings, getting our money traded for local currency...climbing trees to get some coconuts...etc....

thats good. my kids were easily bored in places where the lights went out early or there were few kid oriented places.  with one exception that i recall. my former partner and i took them all to lake george one year for a week and some of their fondest memories involve sitting on the dock watching the stars and all of us sitting there and talking to one another.  they love europe now but when they were kids hated going, being dragged to all of those cultural things. lol

i do know that i definitely wanna do some snorkling....and i am guessing that the rain forest or jungle or whatever will be one we will have to do.....hopefully see them monkeys!!  lol

i hope they do! theres a neat dolphin place in honduras thats very kid friendly!

my big adventure this summer will be a trip i am taking to cayman islands, cozumel, belize and honduras with all my kids and my oldest's gf.

this a cruise? if so youll be fine but get your flu shot:)

yeah...it is....i have a balcony room for me this time....figured since it is 8 days would be nice to have....also have another room across the hall for the kids...altho i am thinking the 3 little ones will of course end up in my room and vic and his gf will have the other....

as far as flu shot...not really into them..lol.  i rarely get sick....

belize is great for eco tourism and or snorkeling and diving vacations. it has one of the best reef systems going.  i havent been there in years but there wasnt a lot for kids to do so bring some stuff to help them entertain themselves vid games or whatnot. otherwise be prepared for some whining. i know mine whined a lot

oh yeah i do:) im hoping the view is a good one tho. i remember once having garbo moment in amsterdam and needing to be away from people and grabbing a map and seeing a town called zanfoort by the sea and it was located on the north sea which i my naive mind meant the most i might expect to find there were some penguins. however i got on the train and much to my surprise the train stopped a short time later ( i had thought the north pole was farther yanno?) and i got out and walked down the road to the dunes overlooking the beach and once i stepped over the dune the beach was like dantes 7th circle. some people really do need to wear bathing suits and there is something really sort of pervy about naked people and dogs being on the same beach and interacting freely. then there was the scum on the water and garbage and dog poop on the beach and i promptly walked back to the train got on and this time bypassed amsterdam and all its ickiness and headed west for civilization.

i have also been to morrocco and i had no problems and wasnt even worried...there were a total of 6 females in our group, the tour guide was female and no males.  we had no problems, even when in the markets on our own and such.  you might wanna have some coins or little candies or such for the kids that come up to you "begging", mostly at the point you enter morrocco...for us it was the docks...it is amazing how they will try several languages till they find the one you speak.

ive heard that the docks and rail stations are horrid for child beggars and that they are very persistant and im used to that from other countries. even tho morocco has a gay friendly rep that rep comes mostly from gay men and not from women. i worry about getting beheaded or something. i considered growing out my hair and trying to look more feminine tho twas disasterous. i still look like benny hill in drag when i try and femme it up so ended cutting the hair again.  im hoping that when we settle on a guide we can get some practical advice on clothing and what to do. one person for instance told me to avert my eyes if i am accosted by males another told me to yell at them.  who knows, yanno?

it is to celebrate his graduation....all of us are so excited!.....i have heard that caution needs to be taken in honduras...but again, i am not the worrier type....

ive never had a problem in honduras. i spent a whole summer there a back in the mid 90s are you going to the bay islands or the mainland?

.my 10y/o was reading up on the locations and he is all hip on seeing monkeys in belize....! lol!!!  for him, if he gets to go to the rainforest and see monkeys, his trip will be complete....

that at the trips end there will only be two of us going into morocco nobody else was interested. i want to see the sahara and so we are trying to arrange a female tour guide from tangier and that will take us a bit over into algeria but thats a day trip im hoping and then we are going back to tangier, staying overnight and taking the train in the am for marrakech and essacuria stay one night and then back to tangier to catch a ferry back to malaga and the plane back to new york.

idk....i never really go anywhere "expecting" problems...but thats just me...i guess my thinking is i dont want to "manifest" negatives or bad energy....heck i still leave my house completely open, 24/7...dont even have a house key or even know where it is.  so really, imo, go, have fun, be confident and dont expect trouble....you will have a blast and i cant wait to hear about it.

Both brave women...........................it is a trip I would pass on because, no one likes a whoop arse when female companions are getting cat called but,

im not worried about this in europe ive been to both italy and spain before but africa is a lil bit scary for me. ive spoken to 3 women who have been to morocco and algeria and theyve given differing opinions but all agreed that the harassment is a bit difficult to take if youre not accompanied by a male.

. I'm sure you have  travelers experienced with that area of the world going with you? Now I'm worried. lol I'm getting the girlfriends take more and, more. If you were mine. lol Gator

yep they are all fairly well traveled and most have done a lot of sailing which brings me comfort since i am clueless about sailing and hope i dont get seasick which i often do on ferries during choppy events. the only real concern is. that at the trips end there will only be two of us going into morocco nobody else was interested. i want to see the sahara and so we are trying to arrange a female tour guide from tangier and that will take us a bit over into algeria but thats a day trip im hoping and then we are going back to tangier, staying overnight and taking the train in the am for marrakech and essacuria stay one night and then back to tangier to catch a ferry back to malaga and the plane back to new york.

Nothing like a little accountability to get yourself motivated.  All I did was ask about the girlfriend, and somehow your guilty conscience set in and sent you to the local Y.  LOL.  Maybe if I ask you once a week how training is going, you'll find the motivation a little easier to come by.

hey it cant hurt. i made it to the y but was still motivationless. did my laps and very little else. lazy lazy lazy.

Although, I have to say, the little bit of exercise you did this week is probably more than I've done this year to date.  I attended a yoga class and went kayaking.

both of those are good for ya. the yoga keeps you limber and the paddling keeps the arms from getting bat wings! the worry here for me and the reason to get motivated is that i dont want to be the one that holds others back. i dont want to not pull my weight on this trip and i dont want to slow anybody else down or end up becoming the drama queen on the trip because its beyond my abilities. that would be my worst nightmare. so if i can possibly get myself motivated i have to.  this going over 50 thing tho sucks. i just dont have the drive or the energy that i had only a few years ago. i see old jack lalane (sp) who i used to see on tv when i was a small child selling his juicers and not looking any worse for the wear these 50 or so years and how old is he 99? i want his energy and somehow i doubt ill get it from his juicer.

Sorry the girlfriend isn't joining you, but the trip sounds absolutely fantastic.  I can't wait to see pictures and hear the tales.

im thinking of getting a new camera for this event. im having problems with the one i have now. once i click for a pix it keeps on shooting til i stop it and thats a pain.  but i want one that allows a wide angle lens and a better zoom feature. im also still researching mini notebooks to replace the work pda that i have now and hope to bring that with me on the trip if for no other reason than somalian pirates and being located lol. god when did i get to be such a worrier?  anyway the trips going to be in late oct now so i have time to get those things in order but maybe we can do a wheres waldo webcast!

I promise to try to be a little more active here.  Actually, I left work early today because I'm just exhausted.  Anyone who knows me, knows that's not me.  I'm sure I'd be bored if I had nothing to do, right?  So, I'll stop my whining now and go have a nice cool, refreshing glass of wine.

now that sounds great! glad to see you back and glad that the work load is slowing down. its officially summer time to kick back and relax!

Spain, although legal, is a very catholic minded place and, hear tell attitudes toward women can be harsh when not in the company of a man. And, care must be taken in Africa as well. i was wondering where youd wandered off to!

nope shes not going to spain. im very disappointed by that decision but what can you do?  not my style to force anyone to do anything. ive been promised several other adventures this summer as a peace offering.  speaking of the spain trip ive been trying to get in shape for this. ive never sailed before and im told its a very vigorous thing to do and im still regaining my energy. its back to about 90 percent a year later and im working on 100.  were gonna hit 7 coastal cities in spain italy and northern africa and its going to involve a lot of walking and climbing with women who are a decade younger so ive got my training shoes on this summer. i thought it would amp things up to try and do triathelon training a lil biking, wogging and swimming. let me share that motivation is a bit lacking. this is thurs and thus far ive walked one day distance maybe a mile and a half,  biked to the library and back (a mile or so:) and done my usual laps in the y pool. this is not exactly a tri schedule. its a pulling the reluctant body along schedule. sigh the mind is willing the body seeks a shady tree and a good book. speaking of which i just finished keeping faith by jodi picoult. loved it. loved her writing style and loved the way she keeps the central question of the novel alive and unanswered. ok im off to the y now that ive read what ive written above im gonna get at it.
