A 75-year-old Saudi Arabian woman has been sentenced to receive 40 lashes for hosting two unrelated men in her house, local media reported.
The Saudi daily newspaper al-Watan said the woman, Khamisa Mohammed Sawadi, has appealed her sentence after being charged with offenses against Islam by the religious police, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, CNN reported Monday.
Sawadi says the two men in her house were a man she considers her son because she breast-fed him as a baby and a friend who was escorting him as he delivered bread to the elderly woman.

There's your legislated morality at work for ya...
No it isn't. That's the "religious police". Not some form of democracy or an act of a civilized republic enacting legislation to protect their citizens, not punish them for breaking "gods law". Besides, at 75 she knew the rules. And it would certainly seem someone ratted her out. I mean really the Saudis have nothing else to concern themselves with? I think this is a far cry from our country drafting some sort of legislation to protect internet prowlers and bullies from becoming catalysts to the suicide of a traumatized and shunned tweenaged girl in Missouri. Or wherever Megan Meiers bullying was done by that wicked old troll. We certainly can legislate forms of ethical behavior. It's illegal to spit in NYC subways. Do you think it's really for health concerns or because it just doesn't "look right"? Its the latter.
