I won't be going (can't) but it made me just a little tiny bit more hopeful, and optimistic, when I read it on Craigs List just now -- maybe it will do the same for you!
Today! Starting at 10am there is a really really free market in downtown Tempe, in 6th Street Park (which is on 6th between College and Mill in front of Tempe City Hall). Bring anything at all that you no longer need and take all that you want. You DO NOT have to bring items to take items.
The RRFM is about people coming together and sharing the resources we have to meet our needs and hopefully save us all a little money, time, and build friendships.
Really Really Free Yoga Class at 11 am!
Ends around 2pm.
what a great idea! i wonder how that was set up? will this be a permanent thing with designated space? if you brought something and it wasnt taken then you bring it back or you can leave it until it gets taken?

That is pretty cool. Kinda like a Freecycle free-for-all. Hmmm...
I remember a few years ago, a group in Tampa organized events each week for people to bring sandwiches to Hyde Park and feed the homeless. The city shut them down, a few were arrested for unlicensed food vending. I thought that was a real crappy thing to do.
I'm glad people are finally starting to come together through all this economic crap. It's high time we stop thinking about ourselves only and start helping each other. The "Me Me" generation just might have a chance of becoming the "you first, then me" generation after all.
