No, not the one which falls in February, but the one happening at midnight tonight. Seems it's going to be straight up midnight for not one, but two seconds tonight, falling right after 23:59:60. This is done sometimes in June, too.
uh huh. i like the idea of two midnights. im not so crazy about this slowing down thing. lol. didja read that article last week about the ginormous black hole at the center of the milky way? hmmm on second thought maybe this slowing down thing isnt so bad! seriously this whole what happens when planets go thru those holes seems like it would be painful and if that alone wasnt enough to worry about i read the other day that if the continents shift it would be possible for the earth to tip over. can you imagine that? whoops there it ...er...was?
Thing is, old Mother Earth is getting tired, and just not spinning around as fast as she used to, (I can relate, although it's a combined 33 seconds slower for Mother Earth since 1958) and so, in order to keep astronomical time right on, this adding of a second needs to happen every once in a while. Were it not to happen, major chaos of catastrophic proportion might occur. Amazing, hey?
im thinking the catastrophe would be one of machines breaking down or being late for work or something? time, as we know it, is a construct isnt it? so other than fuggin up our day planners what else might happen?
I presume this means everyone gets a practice kiss before the real thing tonight, and TWO bottles of champers.
im wondering if i should break out the hooch tonight for the guests. im leaning toward saying that all those indulging must bring a sleeping bag to camp out on the floor. so far the day has brought with it freezing fog. what the heck does that conjure up in your head? for me im thinking chunks of stuff might begin falling from the sky at any time. oh and then there is the already 8 inches of snow and 40-50 mph winds to contend with. i dont want to be responsible for anyones missing the road on the way home so im wondering about alcohol. then too, we may end up with no guests tonight or we may end up with a houseful and no power! ode to joy. im ready for spring already!

Such are the hazards of living in an "advanced" world where sun dials have been replaced by atomic clocks which seem to be the infrastructure of society.
