Can we PLEASE reclaim a bit of dignity in the White House?

When I saw the story on AOL's home page, I thought, "Oh dear God, please don't let there be a cowboy hat involved."

The most distinguished office in the country and he shows up without so much as a jacket?

disbelief

President George W. Bush unveils his portrait at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery on Friday. Unlike past presidents who have been portrayed wearing suits, George W. Bush asked Yale classmate Robert Anderson to paint him in a more casual pose

i think hes busy rewriting his life. the portrait speaks to the image he holds of himself. to me it says hey im just a simple guy what did you expect?

Sadly, and it won't be a hundred years. Maybe 25, people will "seem" to recall him as the one who kept these borders safe after the attacks of 9/11. It's all about who's recalling and reporting their interpretation of history. We see that, in our lifetimes, with Reagan.

100% true statement there.....

Ah, but see, this isn't about the office, it's about the guy, and no one has ever accused GWB of being "distinguished" ... well, at least not in a positive way....

So, 100 years from now, people can look at all the portraits of our past presidents and point to him and say, "That was the administration when we slummed it here in the United States."

Nice.

Okay, so no vampires AND no cowboy hats...That's alot of rules lady. Now I was just glad the portrait didn't include one of those dinner plate sized shiny belt buckles and cow chips.  :)

I have nothing against vampires, but that show is just plain dumb with very bad acting.  And place a cowboy hat on the head of a beautiful lady (like the one on your Avatar today), now THAT is sexy.

So, I guess it's really all in the delivery of the items in question, right?
